KinesisUK London and South East Cyclo Cross League 2018/2019

I’m pleased to announce the KinesisUK London and South East Cyclo Cross League for the 2018/19 season

Great news is that KinesisUK will be supporting the league after a very successful last season and we welcome and thank them for their continued support.

In total we will have 12 events with the Team Champs concluding the season.

There is quite a change to the calendar as we have unfortunately lost a few venues and organisers. There will be no races at Happy Valley, Penshurst, Great Walstead School or Cyclopark Badlands.

So, we kick the season of at the well-loved Stanmer Park in Brighton under the guidance of Dave Gerry and the VC Jubilee. Last year's course was exceptional, tough and technical, get those hill reps in now.

Charles Codrington is looking forward to welcoming you to Leeds Castle in September rather than last year November date. This is surely one of the hardest cross course out there with the fantastic adverse camber decent and the fearsome Wall! Add in some September heat for extra! Get that running training in now.

Herne Hill, one of the best attending events last season once again hosts in the first week of October Bill Wright always puts on a great technical race at the historical Velodrome.

I am very pleased to welcome 4 new venues

Addiscombe CC. After last year’s unfortunate cancellation at Penshurst due to an unforeseen clash with the Hever Triathlon. Simon Suter is looking forward to organising his first race. He has found a great new location in Surrey at the East Bysshe Cross Country course in Newchapel near Lingfield. This is a fantastic venue used for cross country horse racing and expect a blend of grass, banks and wooded section.

Southborough and District Wheelers will be hosting their first cross promotion in the Stunning grounds of the School at Somerhill in Tonbridge. Bruce Sandell has created a great course with a fearsome climb and great adverse camber switchbacks. The tracks are being mown now so ensure you attend this race leading up the Christmas festivities.

With the loss of Happy Valley, you would think that Antony Rogers and Preston Park Youth CC may have given up hope of promoting this season. Anthony had none of that and he has found 2 new venues at East Brighton Park and Preston Park Velodrome in Brighton. As if finding 2 new venues was not tough enough Anthony will be promoting a 3rd event on behalf of the Sussex Road Racing League.

If you were there you will never forget it, Suttons CC promotion at Frylands woods in the snow in December 2017. Surely the harshest conditions of the year on what is a tough course anyway. Well it is back. Sutton CC are such a wonderful organized club with the most number of volunteers and marshals shouting words of encouragement to all riders. Of course, the Scout hut Providore will be their to fuel your through the day.

We also welcome back into the league the Redbridge Cycle Centre after a few years absence. No content with organising the Leeds Castle event, Charles Codrington stepped in last minute to ensure we had a race the weekend before the national champs. Hog Hill always produces a great course in a fantastic cycle racing setting.

It does not end there either, in fact we have 3 new venues to be confirmed that Caroline and Max Reuter (London Phoenix) Phil Glowinski (VCL) and Doug Fox (Crawley wheelers) require a little more time to arrange. As soon as these venues are confirmed an update will the sent out.

With the regional champs in Cyclopark, a National Trophy at Ardingly and the National champs at Cyclopark we have a special season ahead. I trust you will all enjoy it and race well.

You will notice we have left the world championship weekend free, it’s in Denmark, go and experience a fantastic event!
