Kinesis London/SE League Round 9 – Cyclopark Preview

Round nine of the Kinesis UK London and South East Cyclo Cross League to be held at Cyclopark, Gravesend on 19 November 2017 promoted by CC Cyclopark.

Preview

We have raced at the purpose built Cyclopark at Gravesend for many years now and in the 2016/17 season rather than hold a round of the London and South East Cyclo Cross League, the venue hosted the Eastern and South East Regional Cyclo Cross Championships on behalf of the LCCA, and which was a great success – GO SEE

This season Cyclopark will be hosting a round of the National Trophy Series on 26 November  (GO SEE) on a revised, but in general the same course as that used for the Regional Championship. For round nine of the London/SE League we will be racing almost the entire Trophy course!

Cyclopark has full facilities and a café, plus a bike wash. The course will feature ‘Huw’s Hill’, a sandpit, off camber sections and many twists and turns on grass, tarmac and trails (no, not the MTB ones which are too narrow).  Check out the videos (GO SEE) from last time for a greater sense of what to expect. We have had some very wet races here but at each the water drained nicely and the courses have been OK to ride with just one or two spots of gentle mire.

The atmosphere at the Regional Cross Champs and previous races at Cyclopark has been great. This season have seen a good number of spectators enjoying the action and yes, heckling but good heartedly.

A little while ago I did a wee feature on Cyclopark – GO SEE

Useful Information

MTB
MTB’s are allowed but not fixed wheel bikes.

Grids
The race start order is done for sporting and safety reasons – More information here

Only pre-entered riders will be gridded subject to the commissaire’s discretion.

If you believe that you should be brought forward then you must talk to the commissaire’s BEFORE they begin gridding. But bear in mind that only those with a relevant National Ranking might be allowed on the day.

Pits
We would really appreciate it if all competitors and supporters show greater care to ensure that equipment is placed in a manner that allows free movement through the pit area/s. In addition when holding a bike for a rider please make sure that you do not impede another.

We rely upon you to self-police the pits rather than place the burden on already very busy commissaire’s.

Practice Laps
No rider may undertake a practice lap whilst a race is underway unless they have the permission of the Commissaire’s and that will only be given if the last few riders are close to crossing the finishing line. NEVER overtake a rider who is still racing on a practice lap!
