Kinesis London/SE League Round 6 – Ardingly Preview

Round six of the Kinesis UK London and South East Cyclo Cross League and round three of the Sussex League to be held at the South of England Showground, Haywards Heath, Sussex on 22 October 2017 promoted by Crawley Wheelers.

Preview

You enter the world of bumble bee bubble hats at the South of England Showground for this Category A race promoted by the wonderful Crawley Wheelers.

The 2016 edition of this event was treated to Storm ‘Angus’ which had cut across the Eastern UK and saw the cancellation of the Koksijde World Cup Cross in Belgium when the wind blew down the VIP marquee. Meanwhile in deepest Sussex Crawley Wheelers simply nailed their busy bee bubble hats on a little harder and presented us with a typical great days racing.

The course based upon the horse jumping and equestrian area of the South of England Showground is a mix of hard standing, gravel and grassland that drained well after last times storm. There is a gradual change of elevation that will force you in places to pedal to maintain speed across the long wide open course. Also of note is a big kick up that no one could ride. Additionally the ‘Creepy Crawlies’ created a few surprises and kept up a day long stream of good natured heckling.

This is a Category A event and this means there are more ranking points up for grabs from BC. Most LCCA sanctioned events are CAT B and summer events being CAT C.

There is plenty of parking, cover from the elements and there will be tea and cake etc.

Hopefully we will see no storms on Sunday but if we do it will most likely be on the course.

Note: Please when you have signed-on do go to the computer further along where your entry needs to be ‘scanned’ (no need to take number/tag from bike to do this)

Useful Information

MTB
MTB’s are allowed but not fixed wheel bikes.

Grids
The race start order is done for sporting and safety reasons – More information here

Only pre-entered riders will be gridded subject to the commissaire’s discretion.

If you believe that you should be brought forward then you must talk to the commissaire’s BEFORE they begin gridding.

Pits
We would really appreciate it if all competitors and supporters show greater care to ensure that equipment is placed in a manner that allows free movement through the pit area/s. In addition when holding a bike for a rider please make sure that you do not impede another.

We rely upon you to self-police the pits rather than place the burden on already very busy commissaire’s.

Practice Laps
No rider may undertake a practice lap whilst a race is underway unless they have the permission of the Commissaire’s and that will only be given if the last few riders are close to crossing the finishing line. NEVER overtake a rider who is still racing on a practice lap!
