Kinesis UK LDN and SE Cyclocross Rd.2 Crystal Palace

16th September

In the shadow of the Crystal Palace Transmitting Station sits the Victorian park that hosted the World Champs in 1973. The park sits on the Norwood Ridge and this is the hill which will be sure to supply plenty of fast paced short climbs. From the steps at the top of the park you can see across London all the way to the QE2 bridge and will probably get a pretty good view of the majority of the racing.

In between races you can also enjoy the parks Dinosaur sculpturs which are hidden throughout in the places where those dinosaurs have been discovered buried deep under the lush green grass. The park also features a maze and a pair of water towers that were designed by Brunel to supply the many water terraces and fountains throughout the park.

Motor races, Cricket matches, Football games and the popular Crystal Palace Crit Series have all been held in the park over the years but (with the exception of a couple of “Supercross” races) we’ve not seen a Cyclocross race here since the 80’s. Luckily London Phoenix is hosting us here in 2018 and the venue is set to stay as a firm fixture in our calendar.

Don’t forget to send your suggestions in for the Challenge Rider of the Week to stuart.mcghee@evanscycles.com to win a pair of tyres. And if you take any photos please share them with the hashtag #londonxleague on Instagram or Facebook to be in the running for the cyclephotos.co.uk amateur Photo of the Week which will win Balint’s latest album!
